Hello. My name is David
E. Weekly, you seem to
have run across my homepage for whatever reason and wanted to find
out who I am or how I put this together. I'll see what I can do to
answer those questions.
How Do I Get In Touch With David?
If you want to get a message to me, here are a plethora of
mechanisms.
How Was This Site Built?
Short answer: PHP3, Emacs, Apache, Linux...
What is the Copyright Notice About?
I added the copyright notice to make sure that people know to ask me before
they copy my stuff (I'll almost always let you, so just ask!)
See My Resume
Hey, if you are interested, there it is. I do consulting in the
Internet audio space for such folks as Time-Warner, Casio Research,
MyPlay, and others. Additionally, I write articles for syndication
on MP3 Now!,
plug.com,
Audio
Explosion, and others, but I always post a copy here in my
writings section.
Hear My Story
My history with digital audio has been a pretty interesting one.
Read online what I went through.
What Am I Working On?
Check out the things on my todo list, if you want to see what
I'm up to these days.
My long-term vision in all of this is to do part-time consultation
and management and spend the rest of my time teaching computer
science and writing applications / serivces for non-profit corporations
for them to use free of charge.
Personal Heroes
- Sir Richard Branson
-- Founded Virgin [everything]. Virgin Records, Virgin Airlines,
Virgin Bridal, Virgin Cola, etc. etc. Successful and goofy, a wonderful
and rare combination and something to which I aspire myself.
- Shawn Fanning
-- Made Napster. Cool as a cat and unpretentious.
Absolutely nothing can faze him.
And an excellent, excellent party host.
Not to mention that he can kick my ass in poker.
- Brewster Kahle
-- Founder of Alexa, went on to
focus on The Internet Archive,
the world's only active Internet history site. Drove across America
printing books for kids.
- Steve Wozniak
-- Founded Apple, quit, teaches elementary school kids how to use computers
- Alexia Massalin (formerly Henry Massalin)
-- Crazy, fun, created dynamic self-modifying operating system, gives
piggyback rides and makes koala sounds
- Larry Wall
-- invented the Perl programming language, beautifully Christian, funny.
- Jack Moffit
-- wrote icecast, quiet, friendly,
gives without thought of reward. (Gets reward anyhow.)
- Brandon Wiley
-- wrote Freenet (Ian Clarke designed it). Completely insane. Mindbogglingly
fun and friendly. High on life. Absolutely brilliant. I love this man.
I want to write a novella or something about him.
